Life in the fast lane

Navigating COVID19, Racism, Immigration, new roles for both my husband and me and personal life changes in times of deep uncertainty. If this ain’t living, I am not sure what is. The 20-year-old me would be so proud today of the women I have become. Thoughts for the past, present and future me.

  1. Life is not a zero-sum game, you will win and you will lose but in the end you will prevail. There is so much to life than the paycheck and the career you believe is important.
  2. Resilience is much more important than intelligence. You are already hard-working, but lean into your strengths and build grit. It will take you far. It will take you to places you didn’t know exist and it will help you thrive when there. There is so much more you will need resilience for, your marriage, your partners, the family members you care for, your fur babies and your human babies. There is so much to live for.
  3. Be brave. You already are. Continue speaking for yourself, believing in your abilities. Have the courage to speak truth to power. You might lose your job, that’s fine. If people are worth working with, trust yourself to know they are. If not, also trust yourself that you can leave a place better than you found it.
